This weekend I hosted a REAL Pinterest Party at my house. It was FABULOUS! Guests were invited over to a crafting night where they would bring Pinterest inspired recipes to share and projects to work on. Just a casual gathering of friends with an excuse to hang out and celebrate a site they love! I mean think about it, how many things do we pin with the inention of doing, but never get around to? This is a great excuse to put those awesome pins to good use!
It’s definitely one of those parties best described in photos.
The Decor
I tried to take a few ideas from Pinterest and use them for our party.
I haven’t made a tissue Pom since I was probably 7, so I did have to follow a tutorial from Martha Stuart here:
http://www.marthastewart.com/how-to/tissue-paper-pom-poms-how-to#slide_0 .
I attempted colored mason jars, they came out okay but I think because my Mod Podged was aged a bit, they had streaked. I did follow a great tutorial courtesy of MomTastic.com (thanks to TipJunkie.com) here:
http://go.tipjunkie.com/dc/1972/www.momtastic.com/diy/168908-diy-tinted-mason-jars-in-rainbow
The DIY ruffles on the tablecloth were easy thanks to Thatsmyletter.blogspot.com’s easy no sew tutorial here:
http://thatsmyletter.blogspot.com/2012/03/p-is-for-party-2.html
I covered the tables in craft paper from the dollar store and used colored lunch bags as trash sacs at everyone’s seat.
The popcorn bar/welcome sign made it into the decor because my daughter actually made that sign and the popcorn ended up being more of decor then a snack because we had so much food!
The mustaches were cut out on a Silhouette and wouldn’t you know, that decor on the front of the jar is actually the new Mustache Duck Tape. Cute, right! I just cut out the mustaches and put them on skewers for guests to pose with and then take home to their kiddies.
The cute name tags were made for everyone by Laura from PinkCakePlate.com!
The Crafts
We had a lot of fun working on crafts. I won’t lie, I didn’t get much done because I was running around but check out these great crafts these ladies worked on!
Kelly from http://eclecticmomsense.blogspot.com is sporting a gorgeous mustache and a cute musical note which she Mod Podged at the party.
Heather from http://briebrieblooms.blogspot.com made a twined monogram for a gift. She makes this look easy, trust me. I am doing the same project and I got maybe 1/8th of my letter done 😉
Kimberly from http://anightowlblog.blogspot.com made some cute 4th of July items for her Summer mantel (that is her hot glue action pictured above)
Mary from http://damselofdistress.blogspot.com got not only her craft on but I have to highlight, she put the Mustaches to good use. She did a whole post with awesome mustache photos, you have to see it: http://damselofdistress.blogspot.com/2012/06/excuse-me-but-i-mustache-you-question.html
Tammera worked on her Smash book. I loved it, I can’t wait to do one too.
Alex from http://inspirevanity.blogspot.
Sara worked on scrapbook pages, she actually did a beautiful layout that I have been wanting to do!
Cindy from http://www.jenkinskidfarm.com made these cute little owl necklaces for the girls going to girls camp.
Her daughter and my daughter got together and made cute little Father’s Day cards and more!
This cute Father’s Day craft was made by Vanessa from http://seevanessacraft.com/ . She made it from Jones Soda Bottles, it was very cute!
The Food
I loved everything everyone brought. I made the Chicken Artichoke and Spinach Stuffed shells which you can find a recipe for here: http://cleverpinkpirate.com/2012/06/16/mango-salsa-chicken-and-chicken-spinach-artichoke-stuffed-shells-easy-meals-with-sams-club/
Vanessa from http://seevanessacraft.com/ made those yummy Funfetti Cooke Sandwiches
Kelly from http://eclecticmomsense.blogspot.com made the Eggless Cookie Dough Bites
Laura from PinkCakePlate.com made everyone Dessert Cannolis (which you can find a tutorial for here: http://pinkcakeplate.com/cake/easy-coolwhip-cannoli-cones/)
My friend Sara made Veggie Pizza
Heather from http://briebrieblooms.blogspot.com/ made FunFetti Cake Batter Dip, served with vanilla wafers and graham crackers
The drink station was inspired from a pin I saw from http://creativepartybuzz.com/2011/05/duct-tape-crafts/, where instead of water bottle labels, they used Duck Tape. Well I just happened to have a great number of Duck Tape Rolls so I decided to put them on water bottles and Mason Jars and made a cute little sign so people would know what was inside!
The Sweets
Here is the sweets buffet that I had in the crafting area. Most of these goodies came from Winco, my favorite place to stock up on sweets!
The Thin Mint Truffles I made as my Pinterest Inspired dessert from SixSisterStuff.com at http://www.sixsistersstuff.com/2012/01/no-bake-thin-mint-cookie-truffles.html
Unfortunately, mine did not look the same because I couldn’t find the green mint chips and when I took the white chocolate and was going to dye it green, I realized I only had regular green coloring, not candy coloring. Therefore, it hardened fast. They tasted delicious, though!
The Swag
A special shoutout goes to my friend Laura from PinkCakePlate.com who helped me co-host and she helped secure all of the donations for the goody bags! She also gave everyone cute candy necklaces in their goody bags!
Thank you to our Goody Bag and Door Prize Contributors:
Kim from TomKatStudio who donated some really cute items from her store. If you are planning a party, you MUST check out her site for decor and printables.
Vintage Rose Wraps gave everyone an adorable headband, I really love these.
Brassy Apple gave everyone a free pattern, which I just checked out all her Patterns and not only are they adorable and easy enough for the beginner seamstress to use, they are all on sale!
Pick Your Plum gave us a lot of little crafting goodies to put in our bags and to give as door prizes. I’m so excited to make some jewelry!
We got a couple of awesome coupons from Quik Trip!
The Sewing Loft donated a little kit to all of our party goers!
We also had door prize donations from Whippy Cake, Mod Podge and Duck Tape!
Also, thanks to Mod Podge’s contribution, I know now they made Glitter Mod Podge. I already have a fond love of Sparkle Mod Podge, I am excited to try this one out and see which one I love more!
That is it!
The wreath featured in the beginning of this post was made with:
- Styrofoam Wreath
- Red Fabric
- Silhouette (cut out the banner pieces)
- Black Fiber
- Printer (printed the Pinterest Logos and words)
- and a Scalloped Circle Punch
I just adhered the fabric with E6000 glue, then punched out the circles and adhered them to the banner pennants then punching holes and placing them on a the black fiber. It took me less than an hour to create!

I love having Pinterest parties. Did one a couple weeks ago..it’s probably our 4th one. I didnt know that people would donate to goodie bags though. I supplied goodie bags for the Halloween Pinterest party. darn it! And we always have way too much food, mostly sweets. So fun, I love this blog post!
