I have been working hard on trying to increase my exercise and decrease my calories to maintain a healthy weight. I’ve been running more, doing more 5K’s, going to Zumba classes and buying more fruits and veggies. Of course this means avoiding things like pizza (sob sob) and other yummy foods that rank high in fat and calories.
Here is my reality: I don’t always have time to create a healthier meal for myself when we have a big family meal with foods I try not to eat much of. There are also times when I’ll be working and realize at 2 PM I haven’t eaten lunch which is one of my biggest struggles because then I kind of graze on things that are easy for me to grab from the kitchen.
While I don’t always make myself a healthy meal because of lack of time, I have found myself avoiding frozen meals because I believed they all had high preservatives and weren’t made with quality ingredients. Well when I was asked to try Healthy Choice meals, I was proven wrong!
Here is what I found out:
- Frozen meals, like these Healthy Choice and Marie Callender’s meals, can give families access to real, high quality ingredients year-round. These meals are made with simple and fresh ingredients – like crisp vegetables and tender meats.
- Vegetables are picked at the peak of freshness and most go from farm to freezer within 24 hours.
ConAgra Foods frozen meals give families access to real ingredients like crunchy, freshly cut vegetables, homemade pasta and ripe fruit year-round. Just like most people blanch veggies before freezing them – ConAgra Foods does too – to help preserve color, texture and keep them fresh!
Give it a try sometime! Marie Callender’s hearty pot pies are filled with tender meat, freshly cut vegetables and Marie’s authentic golden, flaky crust. And Healthy Choice recipes use chef-inspired ingredients like, apples instead of sugar for tart sweetness and a splash of red wine for a punch of flavor instead of added salt.
