Nail art is all over in magazines, Pinterest, the Runway and blogs! I’ve never done much other than paint my nails with polish because I can’t really do much art but I’ve decided to branch out! I wanted to do something that was trendy and inspired by current runway and celeb fashion but would be easy enough for this girl to do. I headed to Walgreens to stock up with their latest sales and of course use my Balance Reward card to stock up on points.
While at Walgreens, I stocked up on Sally Hansen Products (can you tell I may be obsessed with Sally Hansen).
One thing I hadn’t tried yet but learned how to use at a Sally Hansen Demo was the Salon Effects strips. Have you seen these? They are nail polish strips that involve nothing other than a cuticle pusher to press down and they stay for about 10 days! There is no drying, no chance of messing them up and best of all, they are made for people like me. Since I love the look of nail art but can’t seem to even draw a straight line, the Salon Effects are perfect! There are SO many styles and I had a hard time choosing! Check out the skull and pink heart strips, I had to choose them! I’ll be wearing them at my upcoming conferences! When the Sally Hansen Demo representative was showing me how to use the Salon Effects, she put the lace one on one finger so I could have an accent finger. I like the lace one, heck I like them all! These strips are awesome! Thank goodness for coupons too, I found this on the mobile app!
Along with stocking up on nail products, I also stocked up on a few snacks as we invited friends over for a Mom and Daughter Nail Night with our new Sally Hansen Products.
The two tweens went with different looks but both used the yellow nail art pen! Clever Tween’s friend used Brisk Blue Insta Dri polish and created a zig zag look with flowers.
Clever Tween’s nails: Black and Yellow
We saw black and yellow being trendy this Spring so this was her pick. Even though I must say I can’t believe black is coming back when I JUST started adding so much color in my closet. But I do love the contrast of these black and yellow nails, I’ll probably start putting some yellow and black outfits together soon!
My friend did a shimmer look with Purple Passion XTreme, Blizzard Blue Xtreme polish and the pirate strips!
Here’s a tip for the Salon Effects Strips, you can cut the strips so that you can make your Salon Effects go even further!
Galaxy Nails:
Since we went on a mini vacay this weekend that started off with a Sunset boat tour and I wanted to nails based on being out under the stars. I’ve seen galaxy dresses in magazines and on Pinterest so I made nails based on this look!
What You’ll Need:
- Base Coat: Purple Potion Xtreme Wear (2 coats)
- Next Coat: Blizzard Blue Xtreme Wear (1 coat)
- Top Coat: Supernova Xtreme Wear (1 coat)
- Finish with Insta Dri Anti Chip Top Coat
These nails lasted all weekend in fact, and this has never happened, I took my polish off today and it had not chipped at all! They lasted PERFECTLY all this weekend thanks to Insta Dri Anti Chip Top Coat! It also helped harden the polish faster. I personally like finishing each coat with the Insta Dri top coat, it gives my nails dimension and a gelish look!
Through the end of the month, you can purchase Salon Effects for BOGO 50% off along with Insta Dri Polishes! This was my first time using Insta Dri polishes and I love the brush. It’s wider than normal so you definitely want to get excess off the stem of the brush. It does dry faster than traditional polish too at Walgreens.com.
