It’s no secret I love turning things I find at Goodwill into something spectacular. This week I managed to find a Scrabble game and pieces at the Goodwill Clearance Center. We already have a Scrabble game but I wanted to make something for my craft room/office since I am pretty much obsessed with any word games. I decided to turn it into some art!
Project: DIY Scrabble Wall Art
Time:10 minutes to prep, 10 minutes to glue, 12 hours to dry
Cost: Less than $2 thanks to Goodwill
Supplies:
- Scrabble Game
- Elmer’s Rubber Cement
- 3 – 4 Popsicle Sticks
- Gorilla Glue
- Crop-a-Dile
- Ribbon
- Hooks
Directions:
- Take Popsicle sticks and gorilla glue and glue the sticks horizontally on the back of the game board so that it stays straight at all times. As you can see, mine looks ugly but that is okay because no one will see it! Allow a few hours to dry.
- Strategically place your words before gluing. Trust me, this took me 3 tries to get it looking good!
- Take the rubber cement and glue each letter into place. Allow to dry.
- Take your handy dandy Crop-A-Dile and punch two holds for the ribbon to thread through. Tie the ribbon ends so that it holds sturdily.
- Take small hooks (found in the nail/picture hanging supply section) and place them at the bottom. Makes it convenient to hold everything from keys to USB cords!
- Done!
This would be fun to do with kids too for their room!
