Starbucks and ModernMom sent me some of their fabulous Holiday Blend coffee and 2 cute mugs. No compensation was received and all opinions and photos are my own.
Well, Christmas has come and gone. I love this holiday more than any other and I wish it would last just a little longer. But despite my wishes, it comes so quickly then BAM! I’m left with a messy house, fatigue and decor I’ve got to take down and pack away. I just feel like I have a holiday hangover, not in the literal sense but you know, just exhaustion from the holidays.
Family, gifts, chaos and love. Just a few of my favorite things about the holidays!
It’s not often I have time to just sit and reflect but with the kids being on holiday break and it being a calmer time with work, I’ve been able to do just that recently. Just some time with me, myself and well a good cup of coffee. It’s no secret that I love coffee, especially Starbucks. During the non holiday time you’ll find me there at least once a week, working from my laptop. I was pretty excited when ModernMom reached out to me and asked if I wanted to incorporate Starbucks bagged coffee into my holiday. Yes! In fact, I actually did a lot of my holiday shopping at Starbucks! They had great deals and I scored coffee and gift cards for a great price (not to mention some goodies for myself). I’ve actually been enjoying their holiday blends all year round. I’ll even purchase pumpkin spice and peppermint syrups to enjoy the holiday flavors all year round.
But back to me and my reflections. I know people like to make resolutions as they reflect on the previous year. For me that’s nice but if I have learned anything, you never can predict what life will throw at you and then those resolutions are soon forgotten. So instead of resolutions, I am making a commitment to myself. Slow down. I’m the type of person that has 10 different projects going on at once. I’ll walk into one room to clean then find myself in another cleaning with the other one unfinished. I have found that this has given me anxiety and I need to help control it.
So if I have to come up with one word for 2014 it’s going to be ONE.
Do one thing for myself.
Tackle everything one project at a time.
Make one new recipe.
Read one book.
Do one thing just for fun.
Plan one trip.
Call one person to just say hello.
I won’t limit myself to doing one thing a day or a week or a month but more just remembering to do one. One thing that will make me happy. One thing at a time so I don’t lose my sanity.
Pssst, found this planner in the Dollar Spot at Target!
I’m also committing to writing in a planner. I find that if I write things down, I feel less anxious. I’ll be adding my “ones” to my daily planner to help me & my sanity.
What do you do for your me time? What are your visions for 2014?

I like the word you choose…. one recipe, one project, one book.. as a mom I know the challenges of too many fires going at once.
Nice 2014 planner… I’ve been looking at buying or printing my own to help keep on track/focused on certain things for the new year.
