A couple weeks ago we had Clever Guy’s 11 birthday party. As long as he wants me to throw him parties, I will keep creating these fun parties. If you are a follower of this blog, you have probably seen some of his parties like this Mad Science Party. The thing about these birthday parties is, they are a lot of work. This year we did something different and we had Play-Well TEKnologies come and do our activities.
You can read more about this on the blog soon!
This year Clever Teen helped me put this party together and be because of her, there was a wide arrangement of decor!
Minecraft Party Decor
The Netherportal
Creepers
Enderman made out of cardboard, crepe and tissue paper.
Ghast
Made from a cardboard box and tissue paper.
The art was painted on cardboard.
The PlayWell Teknologies created these characters from Legos.
Minecraft Party Food & Cake
We made a potion brewing station in the kitchen.
The brewing station:
Grape Juice with Sprite
Lemon Juice
Berry Juice
7-Up
Fruit flavored syrups
Minecraft cups made with green cups from the dollar store and vinyl
For birthday cake we made a build a cake section complete with elements from the game. I used the printables from here: http://catchmyparty.com/blog/free-minecraft-party-printables-from-printabelle
For the cake I made a “dirt” cake and the cake was really easy to make. I simply baked a chocolate cake and used green icing as the grass to make the dirt! The kids were then able to make their own cake creation on the dirt blocks!
The elements we used for the toppings:
Swedish Fish, jelly beans, for diamonds Skittles for lava and gold, cookies and licorice for the TNT.
For the food we tried to stick with the theme of the game.
Minecraft Birthday Party Goody Bags
Supplies:
How To: I cut the vinyl out on the Cricut with this cut: https://us.cricut.com/design/#/canvas/29733415. This made 10 bags and our party cups!
Inside the bags:
I made these TNT poppers from poppers from the dollar store and this printable: http://partytailor.com/2014/07/26/minecraft-target-shooting-party-activities/
This 10 pack of Minecraft toy keychains were perfect for the bags at a little over $1 a piece. I bought them off of Amazon here: http://amzn.to/1MresLu
These printable bookmarks are from http://pepperscraps.com/free-printable-minecraft-birthday-bookmarks/
Also in the bags: green glow sticks, candy and building pieces from Target dollar spot.We also bought these LED helicopters: http://amzn.to/1Mrh7oz
Minecraft Party Games
We made this Creeper game from a cardboard tri-fold board and a green poster board. We used ping pong balls from the dollar store and the kids had to see how many balls they could get through the Creeper. Every ball was one point!
Clever Teen also created this TNT pinata out of cardboard and tissue paper.
Tips for a Minecraft party:
- Have Legos out for the kids to play with between activities.
- You can also have the actual Minecraft video game out for kids to work together to play the game.
- Print the printables above through a printing service like the UPS store. I was able to upload all of my files to them and they had everything printed on quality paper within 1 hour.
