I did it, I cut Balsa Wood on the Cricut Explore. I bought it in a sheet from Joannes with about a 4 inch width. Once I cut it out, I did have to trace it from the back with an X-Acto knife to get it out of the wood. Overall cutting the wood was easy but I think I needed the deeper blade for it to cut all the way through.
I cut this skull for the Clever Guy so he could do a fun craft for Halloween.
How to cut Balsa Wood on the Cricut Explore: Select your shape. Then set your dial to custom. Within the software, you can select the wood setting with the highest pressure that cuts at least 5 times.
To make this Steampunk Skull the Clever Guy painted the skull white with acrylic paint. Then he took nuts and washers from our collection and laid them out on the skull. I then helped him with the Aileen’s Jewelry Glue since it’s pretty strong.
Not only is this fun for Halloween, it would be great decor for a bedroom!
