We’ve progressively been working on eating better. One of the ways we have been doing this is slowly reducing our animal based food intake. While I don’t anticipate us having a completely vegan diet, I feel like it’s important to have a balance. Ever since I discovered the “Just Mayo” products, I loved them because they didn’t include eggs. Mainly because I couldn’t stand mayo because of the eggs but I learned to love this company. I recently discovered they had other products like eggless cookie dough. Yes, eggless cookie dough that you can actually eat out of the jar!
Since we are going on a camping adventure soon, I thought it was fitting that I made a Cookie Dough S’mores treat with the cookie dough.
Cookie Dough S’Mores
Ingredients:
- Just Cookie Dough
- Graham Crackers
- Marshmallows (you can purchase vegan ones on Amazon here)
Directions:
Simply layer the cookie dough and marshmallows on the graham crackers. If you prefer a toasty marshmallow, roast that first before adding the cookie dough.
About Hampton Creek
Bake Vegan Treats—You Won’t Miss the Milk or Eggs!
Veganism has gone from being a fresh, new approach to healthy eating to becoming a popular lifestyle. Veganism requires commitment and is based on health-based principles, unlike mere food fads, and is here to stay. Chances are, you probably know a few people who have eschewed meat, milk and eggs in favor of a plant-based diet. You may wonder how these friends can live without chocolate chip cookies, brownies or delicious baked goods with recipes that call for milk and eggs. The fact you don’t have to give up these things, and it has never been easier to make delectable treats in your oven without the help of animal-based products.
Why Cut Back on Animal Products?
You don’t need to become a die hard vegan to benefit from a plant-based diet. It may be enough to cut down on your intake of meat, especially red meat, eggs and milk and replace these items with alternatives. This makes sticking to a rule of only several eggs per week a little easier, since you can use egg replacement products for other servings of omelets and scrambled eggs. Eating more plant-based foods is believed to promote a healthy heart and prevent some diseases. In addition, plant food that is certified organic and free of growth hormones can give you the confidence of knowing what you are eating.
Eggs-Actly the Right Ingredient
For several decades, people have been aware of the high cholesterol content in eggs and have been searching for the ideal egg replacement. Some egg alternatives have been developed in the traditional kitchen, as home cooks have had to improvise over the years while in the middle of a recipe and realizing that they are one or two eggs short. Applesauce mixed with baking powder is a popular egg replacement, as well as adding extra oil to a recipe. Bananas, like eggs, help other ingredients stick together, but often adds a distinctive flavor. Flax seeds are also a common egg replacement.
One of the most popular egg and milk replacement brands on the market is Hampton Creek, with its egg replacement product that looks and tastes like the real thing. Hampton Creek gained popularity with its
Just Mayo mayonnaise alternative, and was hit with a lawsuit by Hellman’s owner Unilever over use of the term “mayo.” When the suit was dropped, the company became more popular than ever, and its Scrambles, Just Mayo and Just Cookies products are seen on the shelves of health food stores and major supermarkets. I purchased the cookie dough product that is delicious and safe to eat raw because it contains no eggs. You can also bake the cookie dough into delicious vegan creations!
