The holiday season is coming up and one thing that can get very pricey is Gift Wrap. It doesn’t have to be, check out these frugal tips for wrapping this holiday!
Try your local thrift store and see what they have available. Recently I found these items at Goodwill:
Gift Bag
New Tissue Paper
New Bows in a bag
Garland to wrap a basket in
Jingle Bells
All of those items were only $.35 each and new or almost new!
You don’t have to use traditional holiday wrapping paper, here are some clever frugal ideas:
Newspaper
Magazines with holiday pictures
Plain Box ~ have kids do “art” as the wrapping paper
Shopping Bags ~ during the holidays collect the nicer paper bags with handles and use them as gift bags
Check your local department store for gift boxes, many offer them for free with purchase
Cheap fabric, check the clearance section at your fabric store or check your local thrift store for fabric
Check your Dollar Store for inexpensive gift wrap
Stock up after Christmas for wrapping paper for next year. Look for neutral colors such as gold, white, green or red with no images so you can also use them for birthdays and other events.
