The Tweens. That lovely phase of “I’m not a little kid” and “You are not an adult or even a teenager” constant argument. I’ve been trying to help my tween with a little bit more responsibility to help balance it out and have designated Tuesday night dinners, Adrienne’s Dinner Night. She will plan, prep and cook a meal for dinner for 6 and ask me for help if she needs it. I went to Goodwill to find a couple of easy cook books as well as the library. From there she plans the menu and will make a list of things she needs me to pick up at the store.
She’s done it twice and has done a pretty good job! I wanted to share her latest dinner, Islander Chicken Kabobs. They were yummy!
We’re still working on the post dinner clean up but otherwise, I am finding giving her something to accomplish and plan on her own each week has lightened some of the tension between us.
What do you do to give your tweens a little bit more responsibility?
