After we moved in, I went through our Christmas items figuring out what I wanted to keep for the new house, what I wanted to get rid of and what I wanted to purchase. I’ve held off on shopping and then finally went and got it done at Sears. I didn’t know that they carried Christmas decor or at least I’ve never noticed. They not only had indoor decor, but outdoor decor too including Christmas trees, ornaments and lights.
Now obviously you have never been shoping with me and if you did go, you would laugh. I imagine that the employees look at me funny because I will literally circle the sections I amshopping in at least a dozen times making sure I am spotting everything and making the best decision. Plus it allows me to see something and let it set in, because maybe I don’t like it at first then a light bulb goes off and I say “ah ha, I can use it for that”. That is where the employees really look at me strangely because well, I’m talking to myself.
While shopping, I found a few items that were sure to spruce up my house decor and the best part is I shopped when everything was at least 40% off! One thing I have really been wanting is a tree skirt. For years, I’ve had a plain ole felt Christmas Tree skirt whech I think I bought for like $5 at Target. Now that we actually have a larger house where the tree is more open, it definitely needed a proper skirt. After looking at all of them (over and over again) I found this pretty gold one you see above. It was only $21 and high quality so I know it will store well for years to come. Plus, I think it accents our tree just right!
Large Snoopy and Charlie Brown Christmas Tree from Sears.
I also bought a cute Snoopy Dog that plays music and….a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree. See, my kids and I love this story and we actually already have a few items for a Charlie Brown Christmas so I just added these two items to make a whole section of our house a Charlie Brown Christmas! The next night we sat by the Christmas Tree and read the Charlie Brown Christmas story. Did I mention that tree was only $10?!
My kids have had a growing obsession with Nutcrackers but we haven’t had much room in the past but now, we can start to collect them! This one was a Santa Nutcracker for 2011 that was originally $24.99, I got it for $9.99! He now sits on our fireplace.
One of the most exciting finds was this Christmas Mug Tree. It is from Gibson and comes with 4 mugs and a chrome finish stand for only $5.99!! You can definitely store the mugs after Christmas and use the tree with different mugs during the year. As you can see, I set up a Hot Cocoa station. This way the kids can enjoy hot cocoa at their convenience and it’s great for when people come over. I also bought those pot holders for only $1.99 each! These were definitely frugal ways to give my kitchen a little bit of Christmas cheer.
