My kids prefer to take their lunches to school. In fact, Clever Tween hates school lunches and she refuses to eat them even if she forgets her packed lunch. Ugh! So we try to remember to pack lunch and I do my best to make them “Un-Boring” and a little healthy too. Below I am sharing some of my tips with you!
I recently went shopping for new Del Monte fruit cups which include Diced Apples & Pears with Caramel Flavor and Diced Pears with Vanilla & Spice. I also got a blast from the past, Del Monte Peaches with Cinnamon. Don’t these just say Winter snack?! Mom tasted these first, of course and they were yummy! I was happy to find these are 60 calories per serving, gluten free, and do not contain high fructose corn syrup. I was also happy to find there was a printable coupon http://www.coupons.com/?pid=15744&zid=uo74&nid=10&cid=17587019, it made these an even better choice to include in a packed lunch and for snack.
Clever Guy was excited to try these too, he kept asking to eat one all weekend.
When it comes to packing school lunches, I’m sharing a few creative ways to make lunches fun and not boring:
You can print this by clicking the image and printing! Want to make your own? Try Pic Monkey, it’s free!
- Put little fun notes in your child’s lunch box like the one I have above.
- Include a healthier “treat” like these Del Monte fruit cups.
- Take a traditional PB& J and add sliced fruit instead of jelly.
- Ask your kids to help put lunches together.
- Cut sandwiches and fruit into shapes with cookie cutters.
- Have a different variety every day, switch things up to only repeat once or twice a week.
Not only can I use these in the kids lunches, I can use them as a snack in my office for busy days.
