A few weeks ago I told you about the Champions Kids campaign and how All You Magazine was encouraging people to use coupons to donate items to organizations for kids in their communities. We saved the toiletries and donated the Easter Bags to the Boys and Girls club, an organization my kids have actually been involved in for over6 years!
Over the past couple weeks the kids and I have been gathering toiletry items for kids, to donate to children in need. I have also gone through my stockpile to find things to donate. One of the reasons I got into couponing was to stock up when things were a good deal. As you can see below, toiletries are easy to stock up on. When I stockpile, not only do I not have to shop often for these things but I can donate to people in need.
Usually we only donate during the holiday season but I recently out our church as an outreach center. They collect things from food to baby/child items. They serve a community of single moms who need a lot of items. As a former single mom, I know how hard it is to struggle with items for kids. It’s great that the church has a center where moms can go to receive these items. Of course, it’s not possible without donations. Each week they have purple bags out for people to collect donations.
In the past few weeks filled two bags to donate. I think this will be a monthly goal, to help other kids. My kids were happy to get involved as they know there are many kids in an unfortunate situation and they are eager to help.
We donated wipes, diapers, toothbrushes, toothpaste, canned foods, shampoos and floss.
