- Every 34 seconds a baby is born into poverty in America.
I was really shocked by this statistic. It is not only shocking, it is sad. I WANT to help and I am along with the Champions for Kids and All You Magazine for this SIMPLE Service Project. I did some thinking and researching and found a local children’s shelter. They had a list on their website which stated what some of these kids needed. I wanted to donate some basic necessities to these children.
I set out to find items to donate and utilized coupons to help save money to buy these items. I looked for coupons in the All You Magazine, newspaper inserts and coupons.com. I use coupons everyday so finding coupons for this mission was really easy.
I went shopping at Walmart, mainly because the prices are always low and of course I can use coupons there. I decided to not only get some basic necessities like diapers and toothpaste, the kids and I got together and created some Easter goody bags for the kids. We utilized the Easter section at Walmart and at our local dollar store.
We filled multiple bags of goodies for the kids at the shelter. The bags had jelly bean filled eggs, toys, bubbles and Smarties candy! My kids really enjoy helping other kids, we are looking forward to bringing these items to the shelter.

This is just a portion of what we are doing. We are going to go through our stockpile at home (everything I have stocked up on using coupons) and looking for items we can donate to the kids. We will be doing another post to show all of our donations and us donating to the shelter.
