This weekend will surely be a fabulous weekend. On Saturday, there will be the fabulous Kentucky Derby. Then this Sunday is Mother’s Day. I’ve been brainstorming some entertaining recipes to serve this weekend and I thought what’s better than a Mint Julep? Take that a step further and you could easily set up a Mint Julep bar!
I’ve had different styles of mint julep so I did some research on how to officially make the mint julep. You know what I found? There are many ways to make a mint julep! The mint julep bar is perfect for guests to figure out their own special recipe for making a mint julep bar. We made this mint julep bar family friendly making it perfect for all ages!
Mint Julep Bar

- Ginger Ale
- Club Soda
- Iced Tea
- Lemonade
- Limes
- Lemons
- Mint Leaves
- Sweetened Lime Juice
- Berries
- Sugar
- Mint Syrup (see recipe below)

Recommendations for a Mint Julep:
1 part lemonade, 1 part ginger ale, 3 tablespoons of mint syrup and mint leaves. Muddle the mint leaves at the bottom of the glass to get the best flavor from the mint.
1 part lemonade, 1 part club soda, 3 tablespoons of mint syrup, mint leaves, and lime for garnish.
Really you can’t go wrong with any flavor combinations as long as you add the mint syrup and mint leaves to it! You can add bourbon if you wish!
Mint Syrup Recipe:
- 1.5 cups of water
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1/2 – 1 cup of chopped mint leaves
Directions:
In a saucepan, bring the sugar and water to a medium rolling boil. Boil for approximately 5 minutes. Remove it from the heat and add the mint leaves. Continuously stir the leaves with a whisk for about 5 minutes.
