I’ve been to a few expos centered around parenting and kids but I never noticed the lack of actual “kid focus” until I saw Deal Chicken deal a few weeks ago. It was for a family four pack to the Everything Kids Fest. Reading the bullet points on the deal definitely sparked my interest! Games, shopping, character meet and greets and more! I was able to speak with the owner of the event, Tracy Reuter to find out a bit more about the event and how it got started.

It really is a mom-prenuer success story. Tracy, being a mom and have been working in other large events throughout her career, realized there needed to be an event more geared just towards younger kids. Wow, how right she was because as I mom I find there are kid events throughout the valley, I have never seen a festival just for kids. She has actually been working on this first time event for 2 years, finding entertainment and vendors that she thought would be a great fit for the event. She wanted to make sure that the fun and entertainment would be non stop.

It seems like the entertainment will in fact go all weekend long! There will be meet and greets  throughout the weekend starting today with Scooby Doo!  Thomas the train will be making his appearance! There will be other characters making appearances this weekend as well such as Clifford, Curious George, Max from Max and Ruby, Phoenix Suns Gorilla and more! You can find the schedule here: http://www.everythingkidsfest.com/schedule.html. Along with these character events, you and your kids can enjoy:

  • Kids play zone with inflatables & games for all ages including a giant 35′ tall slide, 26′ climbing wall, & a toddler zone
  • Domestic petting zoo and pony rides!
  • Gamez on Wheelz game truck theater & laser tag
  • Exotic animal encounters with Jungle Jill
  • Face painting with fancy & fun cheek art

Don’t worry parents, there are lots for you to check out too. There will be over 50 vendors there from K1 Speed, Century Link, Costco, Castles and Coasters. I was actually excited about this because I personally am a busy mom. I mean, you hear that all the time right? Mom’s everywhere have fallen under the “busy mom” category. So imagine getting to check out different vendors all at once rather then having to hunt them all down on your own?! But kids shouldn’t be sad about visiting these vendors with parents and getting taken away from the fun either, these vendors are working hard to make sure they have fun for kids at their booths!

I’ll be there Sunday, I hope to see you there! Oh and there is an incentive to get there early parents (and hey you might as well make a whole day of it)
