Have you ever had an idea to do something, then that something turned out to actually be an extravagant adventure?
This Saturday we had intentions to just make a visit to the Avondale farmers market. When we went, we bought some raw honey, a few veggies and root beer popcorn (yummm). After walking around a bit we went to the lake. We didn’t have any bread to feed the ducks so the kids fed the ducks some of the root beer popcorn, lol.
After the lake, we saw a trailhead at the park and decided to head down into the desert. The kids went exploring for rocks, flowers and a some slightly scary things. We saw a dog that well, was nothing but uh dead. I decided not to show photos of that.
Brian walked through a swamp where nothing too exciting was found but it was fun to yell back and forth. The kids found shopping carts and random trash in the scary tree forest. Tyler found a few more rocks for his collection and Adrienne found some honeysuckle flowers. Overall, walking off track on a desert trail was pretty adventurous. Mostly for the boys.
Perhaps the most exciting thing of the morning, driving out of the park we caught glimpse of a desert fire starting. This bush went up fast, luckily we were there to catch it and put it out. We figured that the guy who had just left thew a cigarette in, hopefully not intentionally starting the fire.
What random thing have you decided to do lately that turned into fun family adventures?

Looks like a fun day! I think that would be so awesome to find lizard bones! We recently went and visited the John Day Fossil Beds (Google it, it’s cool 🙂 and saw a really big lizard! He was standing next to a weed that was growing in a rock formation. RIGHT NEXT to the weed, there was a sign that said “No plants can grow here.” It went on to talk about how plants don’t grow in that type of rock. Ha!! 🙂 Anyway, I guess I should post those one of these days…
Thanks for stopping by my blog today! I shared your candle tutorial below the other day on my FB page and lots of people thought it was neat!
Have a great day,
