I feel that first impressions are a great deal, especially when it comes to my house. As you have read, we moved within the last 6 months. I had gotten the house set up but I was struggling with the living room and the decor. Our living room is technically a dining room/living room. I have this thing though with dining tables on carpet (I may be very strict about what happens on our carpet) so basically I made “mega living room” but it was a bit bare.
I was asked to try and incorporate the new Renuzit Fresh Accents into my decor. I went shopping at Walmart and automatically found them, even more exciting is look how cute these things are!
The color fits in perfect with my decor
I really like how great these look, especially with my decor. Not to be too harsh to the original Renuzit air fresheners but I always hid them behind picture frames because they were not exactly stylish. I also like that these are affordable, come with an extra freshener and after a week of having it up they are still going strong! Also, I typically will use scented warmers but that is not happening on this carpet so this is safe for our living room!
I was able to find a coupon at coupons.com to make them only $2 a pack at Safeway. Also, I went on their Facebook page and saw their gorgeous promo, trust me you will want to see it too 😉 From there you can print a full rebate for the Renuzit Fresh Accents!!

Along with adding the Renuzit Fresh Accents into our decor, we were asked to do a $50 mini makeover challenge in a room in our house. Awesome, because that is exactly what my living room needed. Luckily, the $50 was more of a guideline which means *eh hem* I may have gone over budget, ha but not by much. Read on!
Here are the before and after pictures:
What I did:
I bought a few decorative pieces from thrift stores and created some DIY projects.
You can see my vase makeover in this post here: http://cleverpinkpirate.com/2012/03/14/3-diy-goodwill-vase-makeover/
I also bought a mirror, table and chair. Now let me show you the table I found and than you can see the good deal:
We have an antique/vintage look in our house and I found that table that we researched and found it was made in the 1950’s and out of quality mahogany. Only $40!!!
This chair was also a great find:
This chair is brand new and matches the couches in the family room and the large chair in our living room perfectly. $20!! It also comes with a lifetime warranty!
How To: http://cleverpinkpirate.com/2012/03/15/upcycled-fabric-diy-wall-artupcycled-fabric-diy-wall-art/
The art on the wall is actually a large photo frame I found at Goodwill months ago for only $1 on dollar day and the fabric is fabric I acquired at an upholstery shop owned by a family friend for free!
The ottoman needs to be reupholstered but I wanted to show it in it’s space. The awesome deal on this is it was a free cycle and I will be able to get it reupholstered for free.
I didn’t do much to the bookshelves except I added some decorative glass pieces that I had actually stored in the garage.
My spending:
- $4 Renuzit Fresh Accents
- $1.99 Candle Holder from Goodwill
- $1.50 Vase from Goodwill
- $1.00 Bowl/Vase from Goodwill
- $20.00 Chair from thrift store
- $1.25 Decorative Straw Ornament Balls
- $7.00 Mirror from thrift store
- $.50 Doily from thrift store
- $.00 Ottoman (freecycled)
- $.00 Fabric/Frames (recycled from scrap and frames I already had)
- $5 paint/supplies
- $40 Antique Table (this is the kicker that put me over my budget)
Total: $82.24
Generally, I did great considering and if i hadn’t bought the table I would have been well under budget but I could not resist, it was too much of an awesome deal!

I love the table! I had one in college from my grandma’s.. it had a sort of secret drawer along the edge. Wish we didn’t get rid of it.
P.S. your makeover is fabulous!!
