Spring is officially here! We are already getting mid 80’s weather which means it’s time for fun outdoors! One things we like to do in the Spring is plant a garden. This will be our first Spring here in this house so we don’t have much of a garden yet, hopefully soon!
We recently bought a few flowers to plant including a Go Green and Giggle kit from http://gigglingardengang.com that had sunflowers for the kids to plant. GigglingGardenGang offers a chance for kids to get a “green thumb” and learn how to give back to Mother Earth. Tyler liked looking around on the website and reading the facts here: http://gigglingardengang.com/fun-facts/. He was ecstatic at the fact that some sunflowers can grow up to 10 feet tall! The site also went into detail about how to plant our seeds and how to transplant them when they are ready.
They have a cute motto that they share with kids:
Get Outside
Take a Breath of Fresh Air
Protect Mother Earth
The kit comes with a tote bag, book, sing a long cd and a green house kit with 6 soil packs and sunflower seeds.
I bought this kit for the kids to have them plant something on their own and have plants to call their own that they would be responsible for taking care of. I liked that this kit is complete and you don’t need anything else but water, makes it easy for the kids and minimal mess!
Tyler was excited to get it out and plant the seeds in our kit:
I think this kit would be great for ages 2 and up, it’s that simple and it’s a great green kid friendly activity. Ty really loved doing it and really it didn’t take that long to plant! I think this also teaches kids about sustainability and responsibility not by needing to water this living thing every day and take care of it.
I was able to finally get Tyler to sit down and read the book with me after the seeds were planted. We met Miss Sunflower Suzi in the Go Green and Giggle book!
In the book, they introduce additional characters such as Randy Radish and Ollie Onion and they have some cute jokes. Ty even did a book report for school on the book and he wanted to share the CD and book with his 3 year old cousin. We liked the kit all together, I would hope that maybe the website one day would offer different garden kits that had more flowers and vegetables to reflect the book. I thought the website was cute, hopefully they will add a few more activities for kids to check out on the site regarding going green for kids. I did like the ease of checkout, they use an Amazon store base so that made checking out easy!

I think this kit and the lesson are fantastic. We’ve heard great things although we haven’t actually purchased one ourselves. I’m glad to hear that it’s easy peasy now! I adore your video. You and Tyler cracked me up on so many levels I hope your sunflowers and gardens grow! Don’t let the ants get your down (I’m telling you, that video cracked me up)! Thanks for sharing this!
