These past few weeks have been busy, crazy and basically chaotic. We’re finally all moved and *mostly* unpacked. Also, as you may have read in an earlier post my father went in to have Prostate surgery. I am happy to report that the surgery went well and he is healing, still in pain but healing. Along with that of course we’ve had the normal Soccer games, school events, church etc.
Most handsome soccer player ever, right? 😉
During these busy times, I like to use convenience as much as I can and do shopping as least as I can. Before my dad went into his surgery I went shopping for snacks at Walmart for the kids and a few things for grandpa. I ended up purchasing a few packs of Del Monte Peaches with Cinnamon and Brown Sugar for the kids and my dad. I didn’t even know these were in store but they sound delicious! I actually used them a lot in the past week.
For my dad, I made a small little kit for dad at home which had some western movies, crackers and the Cinnamon and Sugar Peaches from Del Monte. When my dad went home from surgery, he wasn’t up for much and said he wasn’t hungry. So I left the kit along with the peaches with a spoon along with some juice by his bed. I swear the peaches were gone the next time I checked on him so then I threw away the garbage and replaced them. I think by the end of the day he had finished the whole pack. I wish I had gotten him more at that point.
This weekend we got out of the house for a bit and took the kids bowling, I packed some snacks as I always do (because hey, it’s expensive to feed four hungry kids) and put a few of the peaches in our pack along with granola bars, pretzels and juice boxes. The kids loved the peaches but the real surprise came when my daughter who does not like peaches, ate them up. Who knew I just had to add spices to them for her to eat peaches?!
Today is the first day in the last few weeks I have made the kids lunch instead of them buying it. I love making their lunches so it was nice to start the week off with some lunches made by mom. I included the peaches along with the infamous PB&J and more. After the kids were off to school with their lunches, there was one lonely bowl of peaches left! I couldn’t just leave it all alone, so I enjoyed it all to myself. I thought it was yummy! They are different than the normal snack peaches available and they remind me of Fall!
