We all have things that we rely on, right? For me, it’s my phone. It’s the way I keep in touch with family and friends through texts and calls. It’s how I am able to work from home by receiving emails while away from my computer and it’s how I keep up with my friends through social media. I use my phone’s camera 90% of the time and my DSLR only 10 so I am always documenting life with it. It’s my downtime when I want to break out with the Candy Crush to give my brain a break. When I need to look up when an event is or I have an itch to buy something, it’s my go to tool on the go. So yes, I may have an addiction strong reliance for my phone. I just got an iPad also to help me stay in touch with the world so now I have even more tech tools to help me stay in touch.

With my need to use these devices though, I need to keep them charged. A few weeks ago I received a New Trent charger for my HTC One S. It’s been pretty awesome and even Clever Tween has “borrowed it” a few times (and by borrowed I obviously mean took without me knowing). When we went to Scottsdale last weekend, it helped keep my phone charged throughout the weekend which was great because I could use my camera on it all day long. It’s been very reliable and now my phone has developed a reliance on it while I am on the go! In less than a week, I’ll be heading to blogging conferences starting with BBCPHX then SNAP and So Fab so this will be my life saver to charge my devices while I am busy tweeting, looking up blogs, checking emails etc!

What’s clever about this charger:

  • I only charge it every few days, as long as I remove the phone once it’s charged it will keep a pretty awesome charge.
  • It can be used for multiple devices. It has a flat USB port on the side, making it easy for me to plug my phone in but it also has 2 ports to charge other devices like iPads, Kindles etc.
  • I simply plug it in to my computer to charge it. While I am at Starbucks working or just overnight, all I have to do is plug it into my USB port and it charges it.
  • Quick charge, I would say it takes less than an hour to get a rockin charge on my phone.
  • The portability is great! It’s not bigger then my phone and I can slip them both into my purse pocket while it charges.

You can see the New Trent portable charger I got from Amazon, it’s only $41.95! Well worth the investment!

Just Dance: Disney Party

Here we go! Another fun dancing game that we love is Just Dance Disney Party Wii Game! I was on the fence before I got the game, I wondered if my kids were in the right age demographic. I found after we unwrapped the Disney Just Dance Party game that it was fun for ALL ages! There are so many different types of songs on here from classic Disney movies like Little Mermaid to Shake It Up. Which if you don’t know, is a show geared towards tweens (and obviously I know because of Clever Tween).

I think this is definitely a fun game for kids ages 5 and up and a perfect gift for the holidays for the whole family! I think Clever Guy likes this a little better than the Just Dance games because the songs are more kid friendly and I agree.

 Here are all the songs:

Disney Favorites

  • The Aristocats – “Ev’rybody Wants to Be a Cat”
  • Beauty and the Beast – “Be Our Guest”
  • Bolt – “I Thought I Lost You”
  • Cinderella – “Bibbidi-Bobbidi–Boo”
  • Enchanted – “That’s How You Know”
  • The Jungle Book – “The Bare Necessities”
  • Lilo & Stitch – “Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride”
  • The Little Mermaid – “Under the Sea”
  • Mary Poppins – “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”
  • The Muppets – “The Muppet Show Theme”
  • Peter Pan – “Following the Leader”
  • Tangled – “Something That I Want”
  • Tangled – “I’ve Got a Dream”
  • Tinker Bell – “Fly To Your Heart”

Disney Channel Original Series and Movies

  • A.N.T. Farm – “Calling All the Monsters”
  • Camp Rock – “This Is Me”
  • Good Luck Charlie – “Hang In There Baby”
  • Hannah Montana – “Hoedown Throwdown”
  • High School Musical – “We’re All In This Together”
  • Jessie – “Jessie Theme Song”
  • Phineas and Ferb – “S.I.M.P. (Squirrels In My Pants)”
  • Shake It Up – “Shake It Up”
  • Shake It Up – “Twist My Hips”
  • Wizards of Waverly Place – “Everything Is Not As It Seems”

Disney Parks

  • The iconic Disney Parks song “It’s A Small World”
What my kids loved:
You can pick different playing themes, my son personally loves the Balloon Pop challenge where you dance and when it has you shake the remote you shake it until the balloon pops! They also love that you can play these Disney songs in different languages! Yep, learn songs like The Bare Necessities (my son’s favorite song) in French or be prepared the next time you go onto It’s A Small World ride by singing it in different languages by playing it in languages like Spanish!
I love the Parent Menu where you can track how long the kids have played to reading about health tips.

You can buy Just Dance: Disney Party on Amazon and the Wii and XBox version is currently only $19.99 w /Free Super Saver shipping ($25 minimum). Amazon says you can buy through the 18th to get free super saver shipping in time for Christmas!

Disclosure: I received a copy of this game in exchange for a review, no monetary compensation was received. All opinions are 100% my own.

Thanksgiving is over and we are thankful for so much! One thing I am thankful for is being able to get together as a family and spend time together.  When we are all together we love to play games, everything from board games to Wii games. Clever Tween and I love the Just Dance games and even though we invite everyone to a dance off, sometimes we just dance by ourselves which is totally fine, their loss. And when I say love I mean we are obsessed. We have all 4 of them!

What I love about these games as each one comes out, they progress a little bit more in their awesomeness. Plus the songs are always new and fun too! Some of our favorite songs on Just Dance 4 are Umbrella by Rhianna, I’ve had the time of My Life (you know, from Dirty Dancing and yes the end part with the jump is on here) and Call me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen. Sometimes I choose based on song and sometimes I choose based on difficulty. Sometimes I’m up for a very difficult one, sometimes I just want to take it easy and have fun. The game never gets old either because there is a chance to win gifts. One example is we actually “won” the umbrella for the Umbrella song so we could choose to dance with it or not to.

Last thing mom loves about these games, they are a fun way to work out like when I have way too much pie from Thanksgiving! I don’t have to leave the house and I can do it on my own time. The investment in these games is well worth over the price of a gym membership.

Shhh don’t tell Clever Tween I’ve taken photos of her dancing!

You can find out more about the game (and grab it on Amazon) here: Amazon.com  It’s only $29.99 right now, great deal!

It’s hard to believe that Volleyball season is coming to an end! The Clever Tween has been playing her heart out and should be ready for Varsity next year! One thing I’ve noticed is how intense this game can get! There has to be coordination, communication, strength and skill. These girls play hard but sometimes, accidents happen. The other day during a game, another girl on the team and Clever Tween went for the ball and she ended up getting scratched during the game and needed a bandage. Unfortunately I didn’t have any and neither did she so I decided to prepare for the next time she needed a bandage by creating this First Aid Tin.

I used a bandage tin I had on hand, then covered it with Duck Tape. I filled it with this new type of bandage, BAND-AID® Brand with QUILTVENT® Technology bandages, along with some tissues.  Of course, I personalized it with a scorpion.

I was excited to try out the new Martha Stewart Glass Paints and tools. I haven’t done too much glass painting for decor in my house but I feel a bit more seasoned to it now that I had a chance to play around with different types. I found out that in the Martha Stewart Glass Paint Collection there are opaque – gloss, pearl, and metallic; transparent – gloss and liquid fill; translucent – fine glitter and frost paints along with adhesive stencils, adhesive silkscreens and clings. I haven’t tried the clings but I am thinking if you like easy, that is your best bet!

I created a stenciled cutting board with the new paint and stencil. This cutting board actually came from the dollar store (score).

Project: Stenciled Cutting Board

Time: 2 minutes prep, 5 minutes paint, dried overnight

Supplies:

Cutting Board

Martha Stewart Crafts™ Glass Silkscreen – Calligraphy Flourishes

Martha Stewart Pouncer or Dauber

Martha Stewart Glass Paint: Frost Translucent Surf

How to:

This was an extremely easy process, see my above photo.

  1. Cut the silkscreen and adhere them to your surface.
  2. Squeeze the paint onto the silkscreen.
  3. Take the pouncer and dab the paint in. You could also squeeze it in a little cup and dab the paint on.
  4. Allow the paint to dry.
  5. I tested to see if this was washable and in fact it is secure and can be hand washed, the paint says to be dishwasher safe you need to cure it which means 21 days in the air or oven baked.
**I painted on the back of the board as I could not find anything about food safety, if you decide to use them be sure to look at the directions.

I really loved these silkscreens, they were easy to use and they adhered nicely. The best part is after you remove them while they are still wet, just wash them with a little bit of soap and water and they are still sticky and ready to go again! I’m a sucker for paisley and swirleys so this was perfect for me. I did find out that Martha Stewart also has doily stencils which I can not wait to go buy! I found out these are excursively at Michael’s stores and luckily that is the closest craft store to me.

These tools and paints were new to me so I had to have a craft fail before figuring them out.

Here are my tips:

  • I once took a workshop on stenciling and learned pouncing or dabbing is a great technique to ensure coverage and no over spills.
  • Work with a clean surface.
  • Press the adhesive silkscreens or stencils on tightly.
  • Do not work in cold temps or under a ceiling fan. My paint dried way too fast for me to complete my first project.
  • Play around with the paints first. I love all of the different kinds of paints but it is a lot to learn the differences.
  • Allow your paint to dry for at least 12 hours before putting on another stencil/color. I found that when I tried to paint over the stencil quickly it didn’t work out too well.
