Wood slices are one of my favorite platforms of holiday crafts. These wood slices are from our Christmas tree adventures for 2015. I love crafting with part of our Christmas Tree because the wood will last forever. This is a very easy gift to make if you have the wood slices already cut. If you don’t have access to wood slices, you can simply buy them at a craft store or on Amazon. The Cricut is what makes this craft really easy. The cutting of the vinyl only takes minutes to do.
One of my favorite things about the Cricut is the subscription service. Cartridges are nice but when you can access practically any image you can think of at any moment, it makes executing craft quick and easy. I was able to quickly find images that I needed by just doing a search. I tried to find a variety of holiday images that would fit perfectly on these wood slices.
For this post I am pairing up with Cricut and doing a Secret Santa gift for a fellow blogger, http://albiongould.com/, I hope she likes it!
DIY Wood Slice Ornaments
Supplies:
- Wood Slices
- Vinyl
- Cricut
- Drill (Or purchase pre-drilled wood slices)
- Ornament Hooks
How To:
- Drill holes at the top of the wood slices.
- Cut shapes out of the vinyl.
- Put the vinyl cutouts on the wood slices and put a hook through the holes.
- *If you use fresh wood slices, be sure to bake them first on a flat cookie sheet at 300 degrees for 30-45 minutes.
To ensure the vinyl stays, you can easily mod podge them. If you want to be able to switch out the images, you can easily peel off the vinyl.
