I knew when I became a mom I’d have a lot of eventful yet gross moments, also known as icky moments. However, I don’t think my brain was prepared for exactly how icky those moments could be. Like when baby diaper blowouts would happen on a road trip where one box of wipes didn’t seem good enough. I also didn’t realize just how much babies could hold in their little baby bowels. It’s those moments where I relied on just a little bit of Clorox to help clean those ickies up.
After diaper days the ickies never really go away, they just become different. Now that my kids are older I find myself still grossed out by fluids leaving the body in projectile ways like vomit. On more than one occasion my kids have gotten a tummy bug and I’ve turned around to go find a trash can for them to use. Only once I turn around it seems like that is the cue to just let it all out, right there. Cleaning vomit is definitely not my fav.
Oh and moms of boys. I can tell you the icky moments do not stop with potty training. And that bathroom that you just worked hard to clean? I promise, it’s not clean until you go in there with some Clorox bleach and a UV light. I’m warning you though, what you find and where you find those ickies will not be pretty.
Of course my kids aren’t the only ones who create icky moments. I find myself needing bleach for beyond their messes to clean up my own. An example would be that one time I was canning jam and bam! I dropped a jar and hot sticky mess went everywhere. It was so sticky that I am pretty sure I could use my jam as a booby trap for burglars in the future.
Being a mom has made me aware that I need an emergency clean up kit handy. I keep it in the laundry room right next to the kitchen and it has:
- Clorox Bleach
- Gloves
- Disposable rags
- Disposable bags (grocery bags)
