I’ve never really paid much attention to what was in what I bought. Over the years, I started paying more attention to our foods, what was in them and now try to buy close to natural as I can. Although, I never really thought about buying natural cosmetics and toiletries until my daughter hit her tween years. Because I know she will start asking soon, I’d like to have a better idea of natural products for her and myself. I have bought some mineral makeup here and there but still stuck with regular brands mainly. Recently, I had a conversation with someone that had mentioned buying natural deodorant because of a possible link to breast cancer because of the aluminum chlorohydrate. Really? I decided to set off and do some research on the internet and couldn’t find anything concrete linking it but it still intrigued me to check out natural deodorants so I had a look in my recent shopping trip at Walmart.
I usually just buy whatever I have a coupon for so I never paid much attention to thinking what was actually in my deodorants. While at Walmart I actually found quite a few brands of natural deodorant in the deodorant section which I probably never noticed because of never having a coupon. Finding this section though makes me happy because normally at Walmart when I am looking for natural products, it seems like it’s like a treasure hunt. I also found they were all reasonably priced (because you know I have to pay attention to that). I did find that after looking at them, Crystal Deodorant said they were endorsed by Cancer Treatment Centers so clearly, there are those that are seeing that link. I chose this brand because I know it’s reputable brand that other people I know have used. I also like that it’s natural and men and women can use it.
After purchasing two of the Crystal Roll On deodorants (one for me and one for my daughter), I couldn’t tell a difference, but that’s a good thing because that means it’s working just like my old one (phew). Of course asking my daughter how she liked it I got that typical tween answer, I dunno I guess so. I feel it did work for her because after her Volleyball game she didn’t have that *eh hem* odor she usually has of sweat! I feel it’s better to be safe than sorry so I think I will stick to using natural dedorant.
Have you ever used a natural deodorant? What are your thoughts?
