Looking for the best yard sales? Wondering how to haggle your way to the best price? Check out these quick tips to be a successful shopper at yard sales.

Scope out your local area ~ check your local classifieds to see where the sales are at.

Go early ~ Your competition AKA other shoppers are out starting at 6 AM! You snooze you lose the great deals!

If you don’t ask, you don’t get ~ Yard sale owners expect you to haggle, it’s what you are supposed to do! Ask the owner for a fair price for you and them, don’t feel intimated by a high marked price. After all, it doesn’t hurt to ask right?

Check it before you buy it ~ make sure that if you are buying an electronic or appliance, you ask to test it first. If it is a large item such as washing machine, ask them if it works and if they will take it back if it doesn’t. It’s not common that yard sale owners will have any type of return policy but it’s okay to ask, make sure it’s in writing!

At a later time ~ If mornings are not your thing, try going around noon. Yard sale typically end around early afternoon and by then they are tired and just want to get rid of stuff. You may have better luck at a lower price when the owner is exhausted.
