Though it’s been a rough year, I’ve decided to give my surplus, my knowledge and what we can to someone else that truly needs it. The kids and I have adopted a family at their school. The family has 3 children and the mom is the only source of income. They were going to “skip” Christmas this year as they did not have the money. We’ve donated a tree and ornaments already. We are working on gifts and clothing along with gathering toiletries and pantry items from our stockpile.
I’d like to challenge my money saving friends to do good this holiday season by helping others in need. We all know we’ve gotten plenty of free toothpaste, free deodorant, free lotions, etc. Of course there are the plentiful boxes of potatoes, cereals and crackers. Contact your local Salvation Army or Food Bank to see how you can help. Reach out to your teachers or church to see if you can help a family in need or even volunteer your time.
If you are interested in donating to the family we are sponsoring this holiday season, please contact me at sspeckhals@hotmail.com. They have an 8 year old girl, 6 year old boy and 2 year old boy. We are looking for new or gently used jackets, jeans, new socks and new or gently used toys. Also any giftcards for the family would be appreciated.
I have picked up a few presents this weekend, along with a few stocking stuffers I have picked up through out the year.
If you wish to talk to the staff at the school, I can give contact information for the principal @ for the school via email only.
Pass on some blessings today.
